Merisa Gomez-Adams

My passion for putting pen to paper can be traced back to writing short stories and songs as a child, and scripts and personal blogs as a teenager. I nurtured and maintained my writing throughout my research-heavy BA and MA degrees, always holding steadfast to my goal of one day writing professionally.

Eager to collaborate across cross-functional teams to create compelling content, my early professional career began in Marketing and PR roles, most notably in the tech industry. From there, I had the pleasure of pivoting across the food, retail, real estate, travel, and wellness industries, making measurable contributions to for-profit and non-profit organizations, small startups, boutique agencies, and large organizations.

After betting on myself, I made the leap from corporate to full-time freelance, and I’ve never looked back! My day-to-day work has since expanded to include anything from producing infographics and product reviews, to conceptualizing itineraries, and creating ad copy. I’ve enjoyed interviewing political figures, business leaders, and chefs, not to mention writing web copy and crafting magazine articles. Pitching the media is always a readily accepted challenge when I dip into my PR bag, and press releases, proposal writing, and pulling internal and external newsletters together have also been part of my day.

As I continue to hone my skills as a versatile ghostwriter, copywriter, and storyteller, you’ll likely find me devising bios, blogs, speeches, media kits, social media posts, and cheat sheets for a varied range of clients. Oh, and perhaps a few books too!

My personal blog and newsletter are all about building community, championing wellness in the workplace for Black women, and normalizing self-care at work, because, let’s face it, it’s the last place most of us think to apply it and, ironically, one of the key places we should!

I’m proud of the solid reputation I’ve built among my peers and client base as someone who maintains authenticity, professionalism, and timeliness in everything I do, even when faced with rapidly changing priorities. I approach projects with a collaborative, open mind, but always with a view to producing intentional, creative, strategic, and engaging copy. Who doesn’t want copy that stands out from the competition?

My curiosity, desire for connection, and penchant for cultivating meaningful relationships have served me well in my passion, and I hope to nurture all three with you!
